Director, Experience Design

Job Description

We seek a seasoned XD leader, proficient in design and prototyping of complex interaction systems. You will be responsible for leading our experience designers in crafting the next generation of augmented reality enterprise software. As a perpetual student of human behavior, you intuit what users need and want. You know how a product should feel and function. You understand how to motivate and orchestrate teams to achieve excellence. Your work here will influence the future of how business gets done—amplifying human ability with our wearable technology.

You Are

• Fluent in a broad array of interactive formats ranging from AR/VR to mobile and web

You Will

• Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to other experience designers
• Manage multiple projects at once
• Strategize, concept and design large, complex interaction systems
• Explore new interaction paradigms
• Conduct research and distill insights
• Observe the environment and audience
• Interview stakeholders and target audiences
• Identify and become familiar with existing content
• Contribute to ideation and crafting of experience concepts
• Clearly articulate ideas (sketch, verbal, and written)
• Document your thinking in artifacts like journeys, wireframes, flows, concept models, user interface sketches, and schematics
• Organize and categorize information into meaningful structures
• Design multi-user interfaces and interactions in virtual spaces
• Prepare and facilitate collaborative workshop sessions
• Prototype, Test, & Learn
• Create digital and/or physical prototype(s) of the experience
• Create and execute testing protocols to evaluate the prototype
• Document and help implement iterations to the design based on learnings
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of engineers, designers, artists, and producers

You Have

• 12 + years’ professional experience in digital product design, mobile or web applications, mixed reality, VR, game design or physical interactives
• A standout portfolio that demonstrates your strategic thinking and problem solving ability
• Experience designing for augmented or virtual reality platforms
• A professional degree in User Experience, Interaction Design, or relevant field of study
• Management and leadership experience
• Expert knowledge of user-centered design principles
• Demonstrable mastery of XD and prototyping software and tools
• Exceptional presentation and written communication skills
• Experience working in lean or agile environments
• Experience shipping applications
