Developer Relations Manager

We’re looking for a Developer Relations Manager to work with the Playpass developer community. You will help grow and work directly with our community of game creators as they build on our platform, defining use cases, informing product roadmap decisions, and advising on best practices with our SDK. You’ll collaborate closely with the product and engineering teams to advocate for the community internally, set roadmaps and define and launch new features. Developer Relations requires people with technical backgrounds who can also communicate and empathize with game creators who are building on the Playpass Platform. This role would appeal to you if you love coding and thinking through advanced scenarios, just as much as communicating with a variety of partners, both technical and non-technical. You enjoy helping people solve problems, writing code samples, and communicating to a broad audience.

What you will be doing

• Work with our BD & Partnerships team to build from scratch a vibrant community of independent game creators eager to scale their small game businesses or side hustles into juggernaut game studios.
• Connecting with game creators, both to share knowledge about Playpass features and services, and to gather feedback from the community about the platform and the resources available to them.
• Be a specialist on Playpass capabilities and app design patterns
• Support our community by crafting blog posts, delivering talks, building code samples, documentation, developer tools, and helping to define how our team works with that community
• Collaborate with product, engineering, and other cross-functional teams to build new features, improve the platform, and grow the developer ecosystem
• Help develop strategy for retaining creators who are not yet established on Playpass
• Maintain relationships and CRM strategy, keeping up to date on existing and new projects
• Ensure high level of rapid technical support
• Facilitate creators developing games for Developer Relations and Marketing programs, such as player tournaments, celebrity guests, and influencer partners

What you should have

• 3-5+ years of developer relations, developer advocacy, or developer evangelism
• Excellent verbal communication skills; you can explain a sophisticated technical issue in such a way that most people could understand & translate the words behind the words in meetings with customers
• Very strong writing skills, both technical and nontechnical
• Familiarity with languages such as Node.js, TypeScript, or HTML5.
• Solid understanding of SDK and API design principles
• Experience operating within cross-functional teams (sales, product, engineering, design, marketing)
• Passionate about making the world smaller through gameplay
• High emotional intelligence and growth mindset
• Proven experience growing developer, creator or modder communities
• Familiarity with game engines, platforms and modding tools such as Unity, Unreal, Minecraft, Fortnite Creative, and RobloxPluses
• Strong presence on social media and in key creator forums
• Pre-existing relationships with game creators
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience/education
