Research Intern (Multiple Openings)

Bungie Research studies how real people play games. Our research drives the insights that empower our development teams to improve Bungie games. As a member of the Bungie Research team, you will work with UX and Consumer Insights Researchers to conduct research using a variety of methodologies and segmentation strategies. You will have a front-row seat to research and analytics across our studio, including both User Research and Game Analytics. You will participate in stakeholder collaboration and team meetings, and interface directly with research participants.
Our research team explores questions such as:

How can we improve the new player experience in Destiny 2?
How do we tailor our gaming experiences to a global and quickly changing gaming market?
How do different target audiences respond to new features and game concepts?
Why do players engage with certain features more than others?

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Currently enrolled in a U.S. college, university, or related program and returning to school in the fall upon conclusion of the internship
Available to work full-time for 12 weeks throughout the summer with a set May or June start date

RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruit, screen, and schedule participants for in-studio studies
Collaborate with our marketing & development teams to identify research opportunities and arrange the collection of feedback to inform our decisions
Work with Bungie researchers to plan research studies that will inform decisions for the marketing and development teams
Compile playtest data and survey data, and conduct basic statistical analysis – typically in Microsoft Excel
Design and conduct research studies using a variety of research methods – including but not limited to surveys, focus groups, usability testing, and interviews
Leverage behavioral analytics from our data science team to inform research plans
Analyze data to provide meaningful, impactful insights about players
Present your analysis and recommendations through powerful visualizations and concise reports
Manage part of the UR team's infrastructure (such as the UR lab)

REQUIRED SKILLS

Strong oral and written communication skills
Passion for games, and deep understanding of common game systems (e.g. RPG, Clans, Power Progression, NUX, etc)
Awareness of UX research methodologies
Strong research and experimental design background
Experience with a variety of user research techniques, along with the ability to create new ones as appropriate
Strong data analysis skills (both quantitative and qualitative) and understanding of basic statistics
Experience with data visualization
Ability to work well in a team environment
In the last year of a master’s program or last 2 years of a PhD program focused on human subjects research (Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology) or applied sciences such as Market Research, Statistics and Human Computer Interaction

Listed below is this role's base pay range within the greater Seattle area. In other locations approved for remote work by Bungie and our external resource vendors, this pay range may be adjusted to the local market and some roles may be classified as non-exempt (hourly),

This range is determined by an array of factors, including training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. Additionally, it is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Washington State Pay Range

$86,000 — $90,000 USD

Bungie employees in the U.S. also receive:

20 days of accrued time-off in the form of PTO and sabbatical days, depending on the level of the position
10 paid Floating Days annually, prorated in the first year of employment based on start date
10 paid Bungie-observed holidays annually
One hour of Paid Sick Time (PST) for every 30 hours worked
