Destiny Associate Gameplay Designer - Abilities (New Grad / Early-in-Career)

Bungie is looking for a passionate, creative and hard-working Gameplay Designer for Destiny.
As an Abilities Gameplay Designer, you will work closely with the entire Abilities Team designing, crafting, and implementing a robust sandbox of gameplay systems and content. You will collaborate with team members from other disciplines to drive a holistic gameplay experience. You will contribute to the design processes to ensure your work is the very best it can possibly be.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- A recent graduate from a U.S. college, university, or related program within 12 months from October 2022
- Planning to graduate in Fall 2022 through Spring 2023
OR - Moving from primarily learning to primarily working within 12 months
- Transitioning from one craft, function, or discipline to a new one within 12 months
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Help build compelling second-to-second gameplay experiences
- Collaboratively design, implement and balance top notch abilities gameplay
- Make the gameplay experience accessible to as many people as possible
- Work with audio, effects and animation artists to make in-game cause and effect clear to players
- Execute on features that match the creative direction of the game
- Exercise strong player empathy to put yourself in the shoes of players with various competencies, desires, and skill levels
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Intuitive understanding of how second-to-second action games work and why people play them
- A strong passion for game feel with a focus on the mechanics and philosophies that drive it
- Portfolio demonstrating the drive to make great feeling action gameplay
- Entry level understanding of game engines, technology and the game development process
- Experience with many modes of online play
- Passion for collaboration with designers, artists, programmers, musicians, testers and producers to achieve a common goal
- Dedication to contributing to a positive work environment
- Ability to take direction and execute on goals
- Unrelenting self-motivation and initiative
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills
Listed below is this role's base pay range. When a role is to be filled by candidates at multiple levels, more than one pay range will be shown. In other locations that Bungie has approved for remote work, this pay range may be adjusted up to +/- 10% and some roles may be classified as non-exempt (hourly).
This range is determined by an array of factors, including training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands. Additionally, it is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Washington State Pay Range
$75,000 — $89,000 USD
Bungie employees also receive:
- 20 days of accrued time-off in the form of PTO and sabbatical days, depending on the level of the position
- 10 paid Floating Days annually, prorated in the first year of employment based on start date
- 10 paid Bungie-observed holidays annually
- One hour of Paid Sick Time (PST) for every 30 hours worked
