The Blizzard China Shanghai office is looking for a Data Project Manager to implement a new data platform that will power all our epic entertainment experiences in China. We are looking for someone who can architect a data platform that will securely collect data from our games and make use of that data to drive better player experiences; doing all of this in a way that caters to the needs of our Chinese players.
As a Data Project Manager in this role, you will report to the Associate Director of Data in Blizzard China, located in Blizzard China Shanghai office, and be responsible for managing efforts to build a data platform. Doing so will necessitate a strong project management background with heavy experience in big data platforms. This role requires strong communication skills since they will be required to work with colleagues and vendors in other offices around the world.
Responsibilities
- Serve as primary project manager for the data engineering teams
- Collaborate with the Associate Director and Engineering Leads to establish prioritization, planning and execution process that ensures delivery of projects in a fast-paced, heavily regulated environment.
- Identify and quickly resolve changes in scope, schedules and resource requirements
- Identify and communicate risks; work with subject matter experts to develop and implement risk mitigation plans
- Prioritize and track issues and create remediation plans for resolution of impediments in priority order
- Coordinate with teams across the world, aligning roadmaps and deliverables to meet deadlines. Establish and develop relationships and partnerships with internal and external team members both in China and Blizzard HQ.
- Understand and maintain focus on business value and the KPIs the data team is seeking to impact
- Maintain accurate project reporting information and up-to-date project assets and metrics
- Ensure open and clear communication regarding product releases, roadmaps, and challenges.
- Remove team impediments to increase the effectiveness of data and project team members
Requirements
- BS in computer science, data analytics or related major or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5+ years of professional experience, preferably with experience in the gaming/entertainment industry
- Ability to organize and prioritize efforts to build a data platform solution that meets the needs of our China operations
- Experience with data pipelines and data warehouse environments as well as data querying skills such as SQL.
- Strong project management capabilities, solid Agile and various other PM methodologies, previous experience as a Scrum master.
- Exposure to and understanding of big technologies such as Kafka, Oracle Golden gate, Flink, Spark and Cloud technologies for data found in AWS, GCP and Alibaba.
