Pocket Gems seeks to build the greatest games and most compelling interactive entertainment in the world. Since then, we’ve grown to over 200 people in San Francisco, and with $155 million in backing from Sequoia Capital and Tencent, we’re constantly breaking new ground in mobile entertainment.
Our products have been downloaded over 450 million times by players around the world. In recent years, we’ve launched Episode, a mobile storytelling network and platform, and War Dragons, a visually stunning 3D real-time strategy game.

As a Data Analyst , you’ll serve as a consulting analyst for our game teams. You’ll help us to understand user behavior and to optimize our games for retention and monetization. Along the way, you’ll develop a deep understanding of mobile gaming. You’ll influence every decision that we make, from game design to marketing to finance. You'll have a great deal of independence. We'll expect you to use it wisely and aggressively.
What We’ve Accomplished:
- Built models to estimate the lifetime value of every player in our games
- Deployed systems to monitor player satisfaction with our games
- Developed models that identify players who are likely to spend money
What You’ll Help Us to Accomplish:
- Carry out research projects aimed at improving retention and monetization
- Serve as the analytics expert for one of our game teams
- Perform ad hoc analysis to understand changes in key metrics
- Present results to key stakeholders
What You Bring to the Analytics Team:
- At least 4 years of similar/related work experience
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as math, physics, or economics
- A strong mastery of SQL -- you’ll be using it daily
- Experience with R and/or Python
- The ability and desire to present complex results to non-technical audiences
- Ambition to own the analysis function for a large game studio
Extra Gems For:
- Master’s Degree or PhD
- Experience developing and deploying production code
