Our most recent game, The Last of Us Part II, has received over 300 Game of the Year awards and three of our games are among the top 10 highest scored games on the PlayStation 4. Embark on Naughty Dog’s newest adventure – the studio’s first standalone multiplayer game! We’re seeking to bring the same level of ambition and quality of our signature, story-driven games to this unique multiplayer project. This is a rare opportunity to make an impact in your discipline and craft an experience that will be enjoyed and shared by millions of players around the world.

We’re looking for a passionate data analyst who wants to push the boundaries of multiplayer game development and live game services. You will provide insights that allow our game development team to make informed decisions, iterate gameplay through analytics, and create data driven narratives that will be used to shape the project now and into the future.

Responsibilities:

• Work with the design team to advise, define and implement quantitative gameplay data to ensure a robust understanding of overall player motivation and behavior
• Create and maintain advanced statistical models that allow game teams to understand player segments, engagement, and business impact
• Effectively communicate with other teams, tell narratives with data through reports, dashboards or other means
• Mine data sets and develop reports for live service teams, game developers and executives

Requirements & Skills:

• Minimum 1 year experience focused on data mining, modeling, statistics and machine learning
• Possess the ability to query large, robust data sets with SQL
• Experience with data visualization packages, such as Tableau
• Experience with statistical software, such as R or Python
• Strong ability to derive insights from data
• Ability to clearly and concisely create and communicate analysis results and insights to various business groups
• Ability to work in a fast-paced game development environment
• High degree of initiative and ability to learn
• B.S. in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science or a related field and/or experience

Bonus Skills:

• Knowledge of various multiplayer shooter economies
• Previous experience in the video games industry
• Understanding of multiplayer architecture
• Experience with MongoDB
• Experience with data warehouse solutions such as AWS redshift or Event Hubs
