Demonware is an independently-run part of Activision Blizzard. We run every part of the players' online experience, from logging in to matchmaking to climbing the leaderboards, for popular video game franchises such as Call of Duty, Crash Bandicoot and Skylanders.

Your impact:

You will join the Capacity Engineering team in the Platform Department and help form technical direction and standard methodologies for our current and future needs. This is a new team at Demonware and will be based in multiple regions.

You will collaborate with others to develop backend service capacity requirements and track those throughout the year with a view of where and when capacity may be needed. You will collect data on capacity requests, allocation and usage from physical hardware up to service deployments.

You will use data to build predictive models and tooling to simplify planning for capacity needs. You will facilitate management and teams to have a clear view of changes in capacity over time.

Day to Day:

· Work with teams to understand their service capacity requirements

· Collect data from tools and data sources across the business to better understand capacity usage and efficiency over time

· Explore data collected from backend services supporting millions of users

· Develop predictive models, identifying areas to scale up or down services

· Work on long term planning of capacity requirements for footprint expansions

· Assist in making decisions about the capacity needs of services based on real data

· Provide technical mentorship to team members though data analytics methodologies

About you:

· 3+ years practical experience, preferably in large scale and/or critical production service environments

· Expertise working with data, and data-related tools (e.g. Google Sheets, Spark/Pyspark, Hive, BigQuery etc.)

· Expertise in Python, Go or skills in a similar language

· Strong analytical skills with experience bringing together sophisticated datasets from unconnected sources

· Experience in predictive modelling and or time-series forecasting (ideally using Graphite and or Prometheus data)

· Experience with data visualisation and tools (e.g. Grafana, Kibana)

· Good understanding of Software Development Lifecycle, including agile software development methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban)

· Experience with version control systems, ideally Git

· Experience with databases, ideally MySQL

· Solid grasp of some of the following: Linux, VMs, Docker and Kubernetes

· Experience of public clouds such as AWS, GCP and Azure

· 1x 30-60 minute engineering screen call (with up to 2 people)

· 3x 1 hour technical conversations (with up to 3 people per session)

· 1x 30 minutes with other team members (with up to 3 people)
