The Challenge:
The selected candidate will be responsible for music business affairs legal work for a dynamic entertainment company and will work closely with internal business clients, senior in-house counsel and outside counsel. This position will be part of a team of people to negotiate, draft, and track a high-volume of licensing agreements for the inbound licensing of music, as well as agreements for the creation, production, distribution and marketing of new music, soundtracks, live events, and other music-related services and products, which may include music owned or distributed by our publishing labels.
What You’ll Take On:
- Draft, analyze and negotiate music-related agreements for all aspects of the creation, licensing, marketing and distribution of videogames and related entertainment content, including deals with record labels, music publishers, composers, songwriters, recording artists, live event producers, performance rights organizations, distribution platforms and related music entities.
- Serve as a key member for the music business affairs team, reporting to a senior music attorney, and working with music licensing specialists and other professionals.
- Track and analyze large data sets of music licensing and related agreements.
- Advise internal clients regarding music-related issues and general business and contract issues, as well as copyright, technology, corporate, regulatory and related matters.
- Provide day-to-day legal and business affairs counsel to highly creative business units.
- Assess risks associated with highly complex legal issues in a fast-paced environment.
- Serve as part of the Legal team helping Take-Two’s publishing labels create the most innovative and creative products in the most efficient way possible.
What You Bring:
- 3 to 4 years of music focused in-house or law firm experience.
- Expertise in the music business, and especially music-related contracting issues, with excellent drafting skills. Should have experience and knowledge of complex music licensing issues.
- Experience with content creation, production, clearance, marketing and distribution.
- Significant corporate experience with a strong desire to transition to entertainment and music-related matters.
- Must have ability to evaluate complex agreements and issues, and effectively distill information for clients.
- Must possess common sense, patience, good humor, and a commitment to teamwork.
- Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize and multi-task in a hectic, fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of and enthusiasm for the videogame and music industries.
- Remains calm and confident despite deadlines and challenging priorities.
- Admitted and in good standing with an applicable state bar.
