We are looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Corporate Counsel in our offices in Frisco, Texas supporting Gearbox’s growing legal team. You will need a passion for corporate transactional matters of all stripes, but also come to the table armed with some specific experience in one or more legal subspecialty. You will provide mission critical legal services across multiple business units at a dynamic, fast-scaling entertainment company.

This position is open to remote work in certain states.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements including publishing, licensing, and investment agreements
  • Proactively identify and develop ownership of new specializations and initiatives to improve operational efficiency
  • Assess and advise promptly to a wide range of requests from across the business
  • Monitor industry and legal developments, making recommendations based on the changing legal landscape
  • Support the continuous improvement of standard template agreements and legal department processes
  • Serve as part of the legal team helping Gearbox create the most entertaining and creative products in the most efficient way possible

Qualifications:

  • J.D. from a U.S. law school and admission to a State Bar in good standing
  • 2 - 4 years prior experience working at a law firm or in-house legal department
  • Prior in-depth experience in at least one of the following areas of corporate law: employment law, privacy law, M&A transactions, or compliance practices
  • Proven organizational and multi-tasking skills and an ability to work independently
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat, and able to quickly learn new software applications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and thorough follow-up

Bonus Points For:

  • Knowledge of and enthusiasm for the videogame industry
  • In-house experience with an entertainment company or top law firm experience in an entertainment practice
