Role

As a Storyboard Artist/Character Designer with Heart Machine, you will work with the project leads and directors to create appealing story panel illustrations and character designs. This role requires both strong draftsmanship & illustration as well as design skills.

Responsibilities

• Create final story panel images, working from a script, or over rough storyboards
• Design characters based on existing style and quality standards that seamlessly fit into the established cast
• Depict a wide range of scenes, from dynamic action sequences to emotional character acting moments, with an understanding of manga/comics shorthand
• Revise, edit and respond to feedback from directors to meet story and style goals
• Manage time efficiently and work collaboratively

Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Excellent draftsmanship and design skills
• Capable of drawing characters on-model consistently across panels
• Highly skilled at depicting human/animal anatomy, cloth, and scenery
• Strong understanding of lighting, form, composition and value structure
• Highly organized, staying up to date on documentation, file structure, and project pipeline needs

Additional Information

Freelance Gig with Flexible Hours

We will work with you to determine the hours we need and your availability. Up to 40 Hour per week anticipated. Most of our staff maintains in office hours from 9am PST to 6pm PST.

Compensation & Benefits

💲 Pay Hourly pay rate depending on the artist’s level of experience
