Lumeto’s immersive simulation lab, InvolveXR, aims to meaningfully reduce the social and financial cost of medical error. Flexible training in virtual simulated environments can improve the preparedness and confidence of clinicians globally. Lumeto operates across the healthcare spectrum, catering to educators and learners at every level of their competency, enhancing learning outcomes tied to individual and team decision-making, problem-solving, de-escalation and complex or rare procedures.
The Role
Reporting to the CTO, the CV/ML Intern for 3D Digital Humans will support Lumeto’s AI/ML team working on automating and streamlining the 3D character creation process. We are a small, flexible team supporting a product with a rapidly expanding feature set, so every day will bring a new learning experience.
This is an hourly, paid internship that requires a 3/4-month commitment of 40 hours per week. The position can accommodate remote work, but will require the candidate to work on a 9am-5pm EST schedule.
Responsibilities
- Investigate and develop innovative generative models, neural techniques, and transformers for 3D human model generation and motion
- Collaborate on existing research projects with external partners and assist in setting new research agendas
- Work closely with engineering teams to automate and integrate the latest research findings, both from internal and collaborative efforts, into products
- Establish technical strategies for evaluation processes, enhancements, and ongoing advancements of software employing machine learning and neural networks
Desired Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or completed post-secondary education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering with a focus on Machine Learning and Computer Vision
- Proficient in 3D computer vision, deep learning, and creating machine learning models for estimating and modeling human motion, behaviour, and interactions
- Over 2 years of development experience using Python and/or C++
- Awareness of scholarly publications in areas like generative models, neural techniques, and transformers for 3D human motion
- Solid knowledge of computer vision, graphics, and machine learning
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities
Additional Qualifications:
- Demonstrated expertise with the SMPL family of statistical models
- Familiarity with recent techniques and approaches to working with LLM’s including fine-tuning and Retrieval-Augmented Generation and Vector Databases
- Experience with Langchain, LangGraph, Langserve, ComfyUI
