Compositing Supervisor

Looking for a candidate who is excited about the idea to build a compositing departments from the bottom up. Responsible for the Compositing team of a production as well as the design and implementation of a feature animation workflow. The Compositing Supervisor is part of the production team under the authority of the VFX Supervisor. They are responsible for the relationship between compositing and all departments
Responsibilities:
- Composite shots in the Foundry Nuke
- Set up comp templates and Nuke gizmos
- Supervises, from an esthetic and a technical point of view, each step of their department (R&D to final delivery of the projects), so as to ensure that it meets the concepts, the style, the quality of the production required for VFX projects and to the constraints of other departments.
- Follows the guidelines of the VFX Supervisor, the Art Director, the Producers and the clients and take all necessary means to ensure a good path.
- Works with the VFX Supervisor, the Producers, the Production Coordinators, the Programmers and with other Supervisors of department or team to establish the production priorities and methods of work.
- Collaborates with the lighting department on build out guide the compositing aspect of Lighting.
- Build base scripts for the lighting depts and trains the team on execution.
- Works to oversee and QC the final frame output to DI as well as HDR conversions.
- Participates as needed, working with the VFX Supervisor, the Art Director and the client, to the look development of one or more project (s) and provides an artistic support for Artists.
- Confirm all the necessary additional references needed to start a project (ref. images, shooting elements, etc.).
- Communicates the necessary information on work progress to the VFX Supervisor and the Production Coordinator.
- Attends and drives dailies.
- Participates in production meetings, as well as with clients and transmits the information to their team.
- Ensures the quality control and the internal approval before sending to the clients.
- Has the required knowledge that relates to the methods and the new technologies used in their department and works to educate both compositing and lighting depts.
- Finds creative solutions to different production problems and ensures compliance with internal deadlines and budgets.
- Acts as a resource to their artistic and technical crew.
- Demonstrates open-minded, good adaptability to change and has a long-term vision to prevent and cope with different requirements that each project requires.
- Must be able to accept any change in the pipeline if the final product and / or technological progress require it.
- Keep scope on the delivery schedule and the requirements of the delivery.
- Demonstrates leadership, excellence in communications and flexibility regarding working hours.
- Ensures a good communication between the production teams and depts.
- Assists as needed in the management and or recruitment of the compositing dept.

Requirements
- At least six years of relevant professional VFX experience and at least a college level diploma or higher in computer graphics, fine arts, design, or photography, or related field; OR at least eight years of relevant professional VFX experience in lieu of education.
- Can composite any shot without oversight or direction in Nuke or Fusion.
- Can work directly with the Lighting Supervisor and FX Supervisor with regards to look & artistic development.
- Can train multiple depts in compositing techniques.
- Can supervise other compositors on a sequence.
- Can direct the roto/paint requests for their shots.
- Can quickly learn new software or techniques.
- Can provide realistic bids about any shot.
- Can work with lighting dept to build out workflow and tools.
