Community Manager and QA Tester Contractor
Making Fun, Inc. is looking for a motivated, game-loving individual to support and engage the community growing around our Early Access game Runestrike in addition to providing Quality Assurance testing for the game.
Making Fun operates in a fast-paced, remote-work environment. Successful candidates require flexibility, the ability to multitask, and a high level of personal organization. This is an excellent opportunity for the right individual looking to develop a career in the games industry, especially for someone who enjoys player communities and wants to contribute to the quality of a game.
You will engage with our game’s community of players, primarily on Discord. You will organize occasional tournaments, connect with Content Creators, and, under the guidance of the Executive Producer and Producer, communicate news and updates to the community. You will investigate how competitors connect with their audience and look for ways to implement best practices for Runestrike.
You will be responsible for performing QA tests on Runestrike. You will report all bugs found in a clear and accurate manner using Jira Software. You will need to ensure all tests are performed within given timeframes and provide regular feedback. You will also investigate and reproduce bugs escalated by Customer Support, as well as bugs reported via the game’s official forum and Discord server. You will support releases with smoke testing of game clients.
We are looking for individuals who love to play video games - ideally on mobile platforms and especially digital CCGs - and who believe in quality assurance. You must have a keen eye for detail, a great work ethic, excellent verbal/written communication skills and the ability to work in an agile, team-oriented environment. Reliability and communication are key to succeeding in this role.
This is a part-time role with an opportunity to increase hours as the game continues to grow.
Core Skills & Experience
- Extremely organized and detail conscious, highly communicative and process oriented
- Self-starter, proactive, collaborative and dedicated to meeting deadlines and producing results
- Experienced at working in a dynamic fast-paced environment
- Avid gamer, especially for digital CCGs, mid-core or hard-core games
- Fluent and active across social media
- Can communicate fluently in English
Desirable Attributes
- Demonstrable experience working in a games industry Community Management or QA environment.
- Knowledge of bug tracking databases.
- Involvement in official betas and playtests.
- Fluency in Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Korean, or Russian is a distinct advantage.
