What We're Looking For
Skillz is looking for a passionate communications storyteller who can craft messages that engage, excite, and inspire all of our internal and external audiences – players, developers, and employees. Reporting to the Communications Director, the Communications Specialist will help elevate the Skillz brand both internally and externally while driving growth to our key business metrics. If you love to tell and share stories that build brands, inspire play, and unite teams, this role might be perfect for you.
What You Will Do
- Write content to support Internal Communications (e.g., emails, intranet content, employee newsletter, project updates, meeting notes), capturing the correct voice of each sender (department, leader, etc.)
- Draft content to support External Communications needs, including press releases, thought leadership blogs, and website copy
- Unearth news stories from the company (employees, players, developers) that can be leveraged for internal and external audiences and write them
- Review/edit internal and external communications to ensure consistency in messaging, brand voice, and editorial guidelines
- Maintain comprehensive calendar of Internal and External Communications, ensuring campaigns and projects are strategically timed to maximize impact and minimize overlap or “noise” for recipients
- Identify and manage potential award opportunities and submit entries for the company, creating a year-round calendar for company/Executive awards and recognition
Professional Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience supporting both Internal and External Communications
- Excellent writing acumen with keen ability to tailor tone and voice to match audience
- BA/BS in communications, marketing, public relations, or related field
- Experience working for a public company preferred
- Agency side PR experience preferred
- Experience in the tech, entertainment, and/or gaming industry preferred
Note: This role will be required to work full time out of our Las Vegas office
