Job Description
Ubisoft Entertainment, a global leader in the video games and entertainment software industry, is currently seeking a full-time Cloud administrator (DevOps) to help building and growing its internal Cloud (public or internal?). We are looking for a highly talented, motivated and experienced person for this role in our Montreal studio.
Our infrastructure teams go all in into the DevOps journey. This position will participate to our platform development design and architecture. Bringing a significant understanding of hardware, storage, operating system internals, scalability, reliability, or networking will make you successful in this organization.
The ideal candidate must be detail oriented, have superior verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, able to juggle multiple tasks at once, able to work independently and can maintain professionalism under pressure. You must be able to identify problems before they happen and implement solutions that detect and prevent outages. You must be able to accurately prioritize projects, make sound judgments, work to improve the customer experience, and get the right things done.
The Cloud Administrator is responsible for managing and supporting the cloud providers hosting our games and services. They work with both Cloud Architects to ensure proper governance, and cloud users to provide guidance and best practices.
Responsibilities:
The main and routine tasks of this position are to:
- Care for public clouds used by Ubisoft, with an emphasis on security, using documented, automated installation and support procedures;
- Collaborate with the game and service teams to assist in the design of dynamically scalable cloud infrastructures;
- Manage many clouds, accounts and services through automation and scripting;
- Automate repetitive work;
- Conduct virtual infrastructure capacity forecast and health assessments;
- Improve resource allocation on the virtual platform by proposing various usage optimizations;
- Monitor system events to ensure health, maximum system availability and service quality;
- Perform system & application patching and upgrade of equipment firmware;
- Implement management tools for our cloud-based services;
- Maintain documentation regarding configurations, operations and troubleshooting procedures related to the Cloud platforms;
- Work proactively to discover problems through monitoring, reporting and trend analysis;
- Participate in the definition of standards, guidelines, best practices and metrics as directed;
- Assist in evaluating new requirements, technical design and standards;
- Provide support and answer technical questions from developers and other IT staff;
- Carry out all other related tasks;
Qualifications
Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field;
Relevant experience:
- 3+ years of System Administrator or Cloud Administrator
- 1+ years working with major cloud provider/service in a technical role
Skills:
- Excellent English skills (spoken and written)
- Understanding of design for scalability, performance and reliability
- Skills in developing techniques and methodologies to resolve unprecedented problems
- Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Expertise in cloud management technologies (Terraform, Ansible, Saltstack, etc.)
- ·Expertise in cloud oriented development (Python, Golang, Shell, etc.)
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management
- Remaining organized when managing multiple priorities
- Have good interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced changing environment
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
Knowledge:
- Vendor certifications an asset (AWS/Azure/GCP);
- Experience with open-source technologies
- Excellence in technical communications with both technical and non-technical peers
- Experience with maintaining distributed systems and Web services
- Familiar with private cloud technologies (Openstack, etc.)
- Familiar with containers (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience with general software development (Git, CI/CD, versioning, etc)
- Knowledge in the development of high-performance and fault-tolerant systems
- Comprehension of a Service-Oriented Architecture
