Cinematics Director

THE ROLE:
One of our game teams is looking for a well experienced Cinematics Director with deep in-game cinematics expertise.
You will join a team that believes:

This role requires direction, leadership, coordination, project management skills and a keen
mindset for developing stunning visual aesthetics, unforgettable cinematic moments, and
playable in-game cinematics. We are looking for someone excited to work in the early
ambiguous phase where exploration and innovation happen quickly. Someone who can help to
shape our cinematic storytelling, work closely with external partners, and define the needs to get
cinematics into the game. Everyone on our team is enthusiastic about helping to shape a culture
of collaboration and trust.

- You are passionate about pushing storytelling with stylized animation and gamecinematics with a focus on what they mean to our audience.
- You are an excellent communicator and can work with many different internal andexternal teams with ease.
- You prefer telling people what to do but can also explain how to do it.
- You scope aggressively, finding fulfillment in efficiently delivering top-tier content withinan established budget.
- You are a positive, proactive problem solver, leading by example and contributing to thestudio culture by giving to the team artistically and holistically.
- You can work with complete autonomy but find it deeply satisfying to collaborate.
- You believe your contributions should serve the broader player experience above pureaesthetic goals.
- If you were/are a painter, you are more satisfied by the emotions your paintings evokethan how much they sell for.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Source, vet, hire and work with external teams and vendors
- Partner with internal and external teams to make creatively complex cinematics, emotes, main-menu animation loops, character select poses and more.
- You will clearly communicate a narrative and cinematic vision to a team, project and stakeholders providing direction and feedback to see it through to completion.
- Collaborate with engineering, technical art and animation to define and iterate cinematic pipelines, tools, and content standards.
- Develop and streamline processes for sending, receiving, reviewing content, and providing feedback with external teams and vendors.
- Partner with narrative writers and game leadership to aid, when necessary, in the development of compelling cinematic stories.
- Uphold excellent work practices, team health and positive culture on the team including vendors and speak up when it is not being upheld.
- Work with studio leadership and ProbablyMonsters marketing staff to create exciting promotional material for our game and IP.
- Playtest every day and give feedback, even on non-art related work.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Cinematics leadership experience on game teams, preferably narrative-driven, character-focused games.
- Proven record of accomplishment in leading and managing external teams and vendors to success.
- Adaptability to the latest technology in your discipline.
- Several years' experience working in a leadership capacity within a game studio.
- Demonstrated experience in artist workflows, tools, and pipelines ideally including hands-on experience in more than one art field.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- IP incubation experience.
- Have shipped AA/AAA video games in a leadership role.
- Have worked within pre-rendered or in-game and shipped cinematics.
- Unreal engine experience.
- Experience with Latin American based game development studios.

Compensation:
- This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, exempt (salaried) position.
- The full salary range for this position is $197,000 - $306,000 per year. The upper third of the salary range is typically reserved for existing employees who demonstrate strong performance over time. When an offer is made, many factors are considered, such as your unique experience and skills, where you live, where the work will be performed, what similar jobs pay and internal equity.
- In addition to base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for additional incentives, such as short- and long-term incentives. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
