Gearbox Entertainment is building a top-tier cinematics department dedicated to providing high-quality visual storytelling and narrative performance within our franchise IP's. We're a growing team dedicated to expanding our worlds through a great number of storytelling channels including cinematics, short films, and other engaging content for our vast audience of players and enthusiasts!

Our Cinematics Animators help create, craft, and push high-quality animated performances supporting strong crafted narrative moments featured within our cinematic cutscenes, vignettes, and more….

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Working closely with Cinematics Animation Lead to create and craft animation within Gearbox projects, driving unique, memorable, and inspiring narrative performances through cutscenes, vignettes, and other channels of content.
  • Execute on animation tasks, providing the high-quality, richly character driven performances within our content.
  • Take feedback and direction from Creative Leads to keep a unified presence of character and experience within the animated performances that aligns with project animation design and principles.
  • Help to establish, prototype, and execute upon the narrative performance animation pipeline, providing valuable feedback on the process from "page to picture." This includes building strong collaborations with rigging, character art, and performance capture teams.
  • Troubleshoot pipeline processes and work to improve them.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Art/Film/Animation or equivalent experience.
  • Outstanding demo reel.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with animation on AAA video game titles and/or minimum 2 years of experience working in the Film/VFX/Animation industry.
  • Strong communicator with problem-solving skills, able to receive and act upon direction and feedback.
  • A strong passion for animation and innovation in storytelling performances in all mediums.
  • Expertise using Autodesk Maya.
  • Strong animation knowledge in both motion capture and hand-keyed disciplines.
  • Must be willing to relocate to Frisco, TX.

NICE-TO-HAVES:

  • Expertise using Autodesk MotionBuilder.
  • Experience and understanding of game engine workflows like Unreal, Unity, or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with task tracking software like Shotgrid.
  • Understanding the processes of shooting and cleaning performance capture.
  • Experience with MetaHuman
