Gearbox Software is building a Cinema & Cinematics team dedicated to providing high-quality presentation of visual storytelling and narrative performance within our multiple franchise mediums. Come help us tell incredible stories thought transmedia channels!

Our Cinematic Associate Editor is part of the foundational center of the team, helping to provide the pace and structure to all of our presented narrative content. Highly organized with a strong love and understanding of visual storytelling, our Associate Editor handles a variety of edits covering multiple projects in development while helping drive the team towards strong crafted narrative moments featured within cutscenes, mocap performances, marketing material, and more…

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Work closely with the Cinematics Director and team to bring to life signature narrative moments within Gearbox IPs including cutscene short films, vignettes, tone-poems, pitch-packets and
    more…
  • Work closely with team leadership to help scope and schedule deliverables.
  • Assemble and edit together narrative moments and sequences featuring footage from pre- visualization, storyboards, voice-over audio, temp music, and more to help pitch initial scene
    structure and tone.
  • Edit together preliminary motion capture performances, stitching together best takes and creating a scene's foundational animation content.
  • Asset management and folder organization of footage, shots and edits, supporting multiple pipelines and helping to unify them in naming, resolution, and codec standardizations - some of
    which already established.
  • Preparing edits for review with creative directors and other stake holders by updating and organizing footage, generating reviewable files, and handling deliveries as needed.
  • Troubleshoot pipeline processes and help to improve them.

REQUIREMENTS :

  • Demo reel featuring editing of multiple types of media, narrative and commercial.
  • Strong experience with Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Strong sense of timing, tone, and pacing of narrative through editing.
  • Super-organized, highly self-motivated with strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong collaborator, able to work closely with multiple directors, producers, the lead cinematics editor and cinematics assistant editor, and other team members.
  • Ability to openly receive and act upon direction and feedback.

NICE TO HAVES :

  • Experience working in a professional editorial house or agency.
  • Understanding of storyboard editing and in-edit layered animation and VFX techniques.
  • Experience cutting marketing-related pieces (sizzle reels, commercials, promos.)
  • Knowledge of Gearbox existing IPs and their narratives.
  • Knowledge of current industry-standard post-production workflows and organization.
