We are on a quest to find a legendary business performance lead who is a master of their craft to support player retention on World of Warcraft. The ideal candidate will work closely with the development team improve the retention of players in WoW. As the leader of the live service pod, they will focus on the ongoing engagement and retention of players. Importantly, they will have a deep understanding of and empathy for our players because they are a player themselves.
Covid-19 Hiring Update: We have transitioned to a work-from-home model and we are continuing to interview and hire during this time. This role is expected to begin as a remote position. We understand each person’s circumstances may be unique and will work with you to explore possible interim options.
Objectives
- Become a core member of the cross-discipline live service pod (including business, design, production) that informs the live events calendar to drive engagement and retention.
- Develop the live content strategy to drive increased near-term engagement and medium-term retention.
- Using a data-driven approach, collaborate with design and production to identify and implement features that promote retention for different segments of the player base.
- Establish goals and KPIs to track engagement and retention. Monitor and escalate potential issues and share performance data with development, publishing, and commercial leadership.
- Collaborate with the user experience and consumer insights teams to understand the behaviors and motivations that lead players to continue or stop playing.
- Assess the impact of engagement and retention features and share what the team has learned within Blizzard.
- Monitor the competitive landscape, bringing forward novel approaches and best practices.
Competencies
- Passion for the business of games, especially RPGs/MMOs.
- Deep knowledge in the key performance metrics that drive game performance.
- 5+ years of experience, including product management, live ops performance, or monetization design.
- Experience with business intelligence, data visualization, and project management tools like SQL, Tableau, Confluence, etc.
- Experienced manager with a history of working collaboratively with a high performing team to do their best work.
- Data-driven decision maker with intellectual humility and a passion for testing.
- A leader by influence who is excited to pitch in and help.
- Collaborative problem solver, structured and organized thinker, excellent written and spoken communications.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to manage complex projects with diverse stakeholders all over the world (disciplines, regions, etc.).
