NetEase Games is one of the largest game developers worldwide by size and revenue. Its recent games include Naraka: Bladepoint, Knives Out, Onmyoji, Identity V, Harry Potter: Magic Awakened, etc. Along with its many creative partnerships, NetEase is expanding its portfolio of studios, including Bad Brain Game Studios, Jackalyptic Games, Jar of Sparks, and Quantic Dream.
The Job
Help bring worlds and levels to life in a new co-op FPS. You will:
- Work closely with the Creative Director to translate the vision of the game to practical level design
- Block out “grey box” levels that are representative of the creative intent.
- Evangelize playtesting. Champion feedback. Then, iterate quickly.
- Define scope and then acquire or create assets needed to execute.
- Partner with environment artists early and often as a team to drive look and feel in parallel.
- Significantly contribute to the studio’s level design best-practices
Qualifications
- Have 6 years or more of experience as a level designer
- Have shipped at least 1 AAA Unreal Engine (4 or 5) game
- Co-Op and/or Multiplayer level design experience – you know how to build spaces for more than one player at a time
To be considered for a Senior or Lead position, you will:
- Have extensive experience leading small teams of level designers
- Expert level understanding of partnering & working with other department managers (especially art)
- Ability to manage up and maintain highly-productive working relationship with the creative director and other studio leadership
For this position, we are hiring on talent and cultural fit first and foremost, but extra points for :
- Co-Op and Multiplayer games experience, or at least a strong desire to work on games of this type
- Broad portfolio of work that demonstrates realistic environments that are highly playable
- College degree or coursework with studies in design arts (architecture, industrial design, etc)

Salary Ranges (USD):
- Senior Level: $116,000 - $150,000
- Lead Level: $151,000 - $180,000
