As a Benefits Specialist on our Total Rewards team, you will own our portfolio of benefits for Canada and the US, including spearheading open enrolment for both countries. Benefits plan design and analysis work is involved, as well as helping us stay on top of new benefit plan trends in the industry.
This is a full-time 12-month contract position to start (benefits included), with a high probability of converting to permanent full-time before the end date. We are currently only accepting applicants from the Greater Vancouver area.
In this role, you can expect to:
- Kick-off all employee benefits enrolments, including new hires, life events, and status changes
- Lead Kabam's cyclical Open Enrolments between the US and Canada
- Manage terminated employee benefit plans such as the continuation of coverages with Sun Life and COBRA
- Monitor and analyze reviews and surveys for our US and Canada benefit and wellness plans
- Manage Short and Long-Term Disability cases from Leave of Absence to Return to Work within SLA
- Act as an advocate and SME for all benefit and wellness programs, including TELUS Health, LifeWorks, and Homewood Health
- Advise and assist HRBPs/HRGs with potential benefit or disability cases
- Maintain working relationships with external benefit brokers, account managers, and case managers.
- Be the primary point of contact for the Payroll team for all Disability cases, member enrolment plan additions/changes, and member premium deductions.
- Collaborate with Total Rewards Specialist, Compensation on ad-hoc projects that impact an Employee's overall total rewards package
- Prepare all annual benefits compliance and census reporting
- Stay up to date with industry trends and economic changes related to benefit programs and plan designs.
To be successful in this role, your background includes:
- HR background with benefits experience
- Experience with HRIS systems similar to Dayforce (nice to have)
- Experience with Canadian benefits administration is a must
- Experience with US benefits would be an asset
- Working experience in employee relations (to approach disability cases with sensitivity)
- Some experience with flex benefit credits and understanding of tax implications between each plan option (nice to have)
- Experience in the tech industry is nice to have but not required
