WHAT YOU’LL DO
As a Benefits Administrator you will be responsible for various activities within the HR Operations team, with a strong focus on leading benefits initiatives. In this role you will be responsible for managing the relationship with our benefits broker, coordinating annual renewals, facilitating open enrollment, researching and recommending benefits changes, managing leaves of absence with our external vendor, and providing support to employees on benefits. As a member of the HR Operations Team, you will participate in other special projects as needed and may support compensation-related projects.
- Build strong consultative and collaborative relationships with our managers and employees by providing accurate and timely information regarding benefits programs.
- Be the subject matter expert regarding benefits, Leave of Absence (LOA), and 401(k) programs.
- Document our benefits processes and apply a mindset of continuous improvement towards those processes.
- Ensure data integrity in our benefit systems through accurate administrative processes.
- Participate in implementing designated benefits programs/projects such as open enrollment, vendor RFPs, renewal,
- Administer employee benefit programs such as retirement plans, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, temporary disability, wellness, voluntary benefits, discounts, and Employee Assistance Program.
- Manages day-to-day operations, including vendor relationships, contract compliance, and escalation of issues.
- Own the leave management process, partnering with managers, payroll, employees, and third parties to ensure time is tracked and processed accurately.
- Use data to monitor trends and recommend educational initiatives, program plan changes, vendor changes and cost control initiatives.
- Engage cross-functionally with Finance, Payroll, HR Business Partners, Recruiting, Legal and other departments and oversight of benefits programs, budget, and expenses.
- Develop multi-channel strategy to effectively communicate and implement benefits programs
- Maintain knowledge of and analyze government regulations, program trends, and prevailing practices and market competitiveness among similar organizations.
- Coordinate the 401(k) Committee meetings, and work with our external vendors on the annual audit, 5500, and SAR requirements.
- Ensure compliance of benefit and retirement program administration with federal, state, and local rules and regulations, and associated regulatory reporting requirements.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
- At least 3-5 years’ experience working in a Human Resources Department, preferably with a focus on benefits administration.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of HR functions, including a familiarity with general HR practices, policies, procedures, and employment laws.
- Benefits and compensation administration experience is a strong plus.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to demonstrate active listening skills.
- Strong customer skills with the ability to be courteous and diplomatic, as well as interpersonal skills for effectively dealing with employees at all levels within the organization, as well as external vendors.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Organization skills with the ability to manage time and resources effectively and productively.
- HR certification preferred.
