Audio QA Analyst

Build a Rocket Boy is looking for an Audio QA to join the Audio team and assist in the development of “Everywhere”. This position is in house at our studio in Edinburgh, Scotland. The ideal candidate will already have a good understanding of sound design principals, game audio, and have a passion for games.
The role of an Audio QA is to test the game, any audio features, and accurately report bugs and issues to the necessary people. Daily tasks will involve using Wwise to profile in-game audio, updating JIRA tickets, and working closely with others to assist in a variety of tasks depending on the current state of the game.
An Audio QA should have a keen ear, and a good knowledge of integration, to discern issues quickly and help improve the game’s overall sound quality. An attention to detail and a detective’s disposition are key, as often a QA’s assistance will be crucial in working out the cause of issues.
This position is best suited for someone looking to start their career in game audio.
Responsibilities:
- Enter audio related bugs into the database and maintain a strong understanding of audio requirements/the game’s current stage of development.
- Regularly test the game, utilising profilers, and debug controls to give accurate reports to developers.
- Review any in game audio and provide feedback to the rest of the team when play testing or participating in group play sessions.
- Liaise with other departments on audio related issues when necessary (I.e., Design, animation, VFX). Fulfil any requests for assistance from other departments in a timely and professional manner.
- Produce and update documentation when necessary for tasks that you have taken ownership of.
Requirements:
- Ability to work on-site in Edinburgh, Scotland.
- An understanding of modern sound design techniques and all facets of game audio.
- Self-motivated worker with a genuine passion for games and game design.
- Experience using Audiokinetic’s Wwise or similar audio middleware.
- Working knowledge of game engines, particularly Unreal Engine.
- Excellent written and verbal English skills.
- An interest in the technical side of game development and a keen willingness to learn.
- Any experience using source control is a bonus.
