SUMMARY OF POSITION

Pixelberry Studios is looking for an Associate Writer to brainstorm, create, and edit scripts for our hit mobile game Choices: Stories You Play. Pixelberry is the leading interactive fiction game studio on mobile, and this Associate Writer will help us ensure the level of high-quality storytelling our players expect, by contributing ideas and their writing talents to assist Senior Writers in creating storylines. Pixelberry aims to deliver narrative experiences on par with the best novels, so we’re looking for writers who can meet and exceed that level of excellence.

You will be working as a writer for the best team in the business. We're looking for someone with a background in fiction writing, experience matching character voices, concepting storylines, and general editorial skills. You'll work closely with our Senior Writers to make stories that are fun, engaging, and well-crafted. You will provide support for your Senior Writer partner, writing scenes, offering suggestions for story and art, and giving edits on other writers' work. This position also requires learning the basics of Choices' specific coding system.

Our ideal candidate has a passion for writing and reading interactive fiction. They are creatively-driven and extremely detail-oriented, with a good grasp of what's popular in current media and literature within our target demographic. They have a deep understanding of language and writing, both in the technical and creative spheres. They can work on a schedule with regular deadlines and balance multiple tasks at once. They have experience receiving and implementing critique and feedback, and are open to learning the craft from writers with years of experience in narrative games. Finally, they are able to work well with a team, garnering a positive work environment with their fellow writers and other members of our production team.

This is a contract-to-hire position that requires at least 40 hours per week. It can be done remote or in-person, once the office reopens. Pay rate is competitive, depending on experience, and hourly with the option of paid overtime.

Our headquarters is in Mountain View, CA but we can accommodate a remote work environment for a candidate from the following states: CA, OR, TX, WA, and NV.
