ASSOCIATE TECHNICAL ARTIST POSITION

We are seeking a flexible and talented Associate Technical Artist that excels at working with team members to implement and iterate on design and art assets in the Unreal 4 Engine to join us for the first half of 2021! Candidates should be comfortable using Blueprints to create and maintain logic for gameplay events like setting up triggers VFXs and controlling Material parameters. Candidates should have a solid understanding of how to work in and coordinate the use of Animation Blueprints, Animation Sequences and Level Sequences. This applicant should possess a passion for learning and problem-solving, as well as demonstrate a creative and flexible approach to various systems. The ability to follow precise art direction and accept feedback readily is necessary.

Our ideal candidate will have the ability to handle both these technical and artistic issues as well as the ability to work in a team environment while meeting schedules and milestones.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Assisting implementation and integration of Niagara VFXs and triggered in-game events and cinematics in the Unreal 4 Engine
  • Assisting animators and engineers debug issues related to gameplay and cinematic animations and events during development
  • Work with artists and engineers to support existing pipelines as well as adding features and/or improvements
  • Work closely with the Art Director to integrate assets into gameplay maps to meet concepts and lookdev
  • Provides input on the technical methods to achieve the artistic goals and vision through all phases of the game development cycle

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Functional knowledge of Unreal 4 Engine to meet the above responsibilities confidently
  • Functional knowledge of modeling, shaders, and animation in Maya
  • Cross-discipline communication skills
  • Flexibility and ability to iterate based on feedback and critique

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Familiarity with Shaders in Unreal
  • Familiarity with the Niagara VFX system
  • Familiarity with Animation
  • Familiarity with asset optimization in Unreal

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

  • BS/BA/BFA degree in graphic design, fine arts, animation, visual communication, CS, or similar preferred
