Role Overview

A strong executive and internal communications strategy is necessary to support Skillz on the road to IPO. We’re looking for an experienced executive and internal communications professional who is passionate about driving communications campaigns, programming and events to elevate Skillz and our executives. This leader will work closely with and provide counsel to our senior executive team. The right individual will be able to drive strategic, creative and pragmatic communications around corporate milestones and updates, working to drive positive employee sentiment, move employees to action, and manage change in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.


Objectives

Elevate “Skillz Life” internally and externally by creating a steady drumbeat of communications moments to:

  1. Inform employees about organizational goals, initiatives or milestones
  2. Give light to important conversations, drive deeper engagement and workplace pride
  3. Empower employees to deliver on key business needs and opportunities
  4. Elevate Skillz spokespeople as visionary thought leaders ushering in the future of entertainment and competition
  5. Advance the rise of esports by creating, validating and owning an entirely new category of fair competition for everyone

By 2021, mobile gaming revenue is expected to exceed $100 billion, approaching the size of today’s entire video gaming industry. Skillz is just getting started -- while the number of people with mobile phones worldwide is expected to reach nearly 4.7 billion people this year, the number of smartphone and tablet owners is expected to eclipse 11 billion by 2025.
