Blizzard Entertainment is looking for a senior technical leader with proven experience leading teams of engineers to help us deliver critical technology solutions for customer support, player behavior, and localization. As an Associate Director of Engineering for Service Technologies, y ou will direct engineering efforts across a team of 25 to 30 engineers, with four to six technical leads as direct reports. You will partner with other leaders to set objectives and technical vision of the team and you will lead the technical efforts to deliver on those objectives and vision. Your team will work in multiple languages on a wide range of technologies, including scalable distributed cloud services, user applications, big data, and machine learning.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple software engineering teams, each with a technical lead and several software engineers
• Mentor technical leads and engineers across Service Technologies and Blizzard Entertainment
• Develop a diverse team where engineers with varying perspectives are encouraged to identify and propose improvements to our products and vision
• Partner with product management, project management, design, and technical leaders to identify, prioritize, staff, and build effective engineering solutions for customer support, player behavior, and localization
• Drive projects that require collaboration from multiple teams in Development Services and across Blizzard Entertainment
• Provide critical analysis of technology and development practices with the goal of improving engineering quality and team efficiency and fostering a positive working environment

Requirements

• Minimum of 12 years of professional software engineering experience , preferably with strong experience building and supporting highly available and scalable distributed systems
• Minimum of three years managing software engineers
• Experience developing server applications using C# or Java
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline; or equivalent industry experience

Pluses

• Experience delivering public cloud services in an engineering or management role
• Experience with container development and orchestration solutions
• Experience with distributed messaging and analytics systems
