Your Mission

This role will be a key partner in the execution of World of Warcraft’s Character & Animation by igniting others as a leader and as an artist. In addition to channeling the Art Director's visual direction to the Character and Animation teams, the Associate Art Director – Character & Animation will act as a key communication conduit for design, engineering, production, and other partner teams, as well as ensure our core values are upheld within the teams.

This position has specialization and mastery in Character Design and Animation. It serves as the team's motivational catalyst and helps define the look and quality of the World of Warcraft style.

We are looking for people who have multiple years of experience crafting video game art. Most importantly, we look for leaders who genuinely enjoy working with people and find value in supporting their team’s success.

Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

• Work with Art Director to drive the artistic development of AAA games
• Create concept paintings and benchmark assets that set the bar and inspire the team
• Creatively tackle visual problems in collaboration with the broader game team including Directors, Art Leads, and Artists
• Take creative ownership over projects from concept to completion
• Present ideas and designs to Directors and partners and incorporate feedback when needed
• Collaborate with the Art Director and Character & Animation Leads to ensure consistency of quality and vision for the art
• Partner with the production team to ensure schedules and plans meet project and business needs
• Partner with Art Manager to ensure team is healthy and growing artistically
• Champion diversity, inclusion, and equity in WoW character art
