Assistant Controller

Survios , the foremost virtual reality game developer and pioneer of the future of immersive technologies, is seeking a talented and technical Assistant Controller to join our amazing Accounting & Finance Team!
Responsibilities:
- Support the month-end and year-end accounting close processes, including preparing/reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Oversee both Senior Accountant and Staff Accountant in the routine accounting processes (A/R, A/P, Monthly Close, Weekly Sales Reporting, etc.)
- Help establish and implement accounting best practices, processes, and procedures with a process improvement mindset.
- Prepare consolidated financial reports for review by the Controller on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis.
- Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll on a bi-weekly and semi-monthly basis.
- Assist the Controller with maintaining the corporate budget across various departments.
- Assist in the system implementations of various business initiatives.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls, specifically around financial reporting.
- Assist in managing the audit, business insurance, tax reporting, and company filings.
- Manage/reconcile cap table and assist in recording entries related to stock options and exercises.
- Work with the Controller on the evaluation and implementation of new accounting standards (ASC 606, 842, etc.).
- Work Independently and with third parties for timely filing of federal, state and local tax documents, quarterly/annual audit requirements, and reporting and compliance activities, as needed.
- Assist the Controller and CFO with special projects as requested.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required, Master’s in Accounting preferred.
- 6+ years of relevant, progressive responsibility (experience in software/technology highly preferred), including team management (at least 2 resources) and process improvement.
- CPA Certification required.
- Public accounting experience required (Big-4 highly preferred).
- Strong technical accounting knowledge of GAAP, financial statements, internal controls, and other areas related to financial reporting required.
- Hands-on experience with NetSuite required.
- Strong attention to detail, with high organizational skills.
- Excellent written & verbal communication.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to adapt quickly and thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Self-directed and refined critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work with deadlines across multiple concurrent projects.
Pluses:
- Previous experience in a fast-growing/start up environment is a plus.
- Experience taking a company IPO (either internally or externally) highly preferred.
- Previous experience in a mix of public and private companies highly preferred.
