The Challenge
Are you a motivated games artist who can translate the higher vision of a game into compelling content? Do you love to lead, connect, and develop a team? If you said ‘yes’ this might be the role for you! As an Art Lead you will work closely with a team of dedicated artists, animators, designers, and producers to create games that not only look beautiful but innovate in the sci-fi gaming genre. A successful Art Lead in this role will build trust with their direct reports, inspire creativity, and maintain a high bar for quality.
What You’ll Take On
- Oversee and uphold Art Team processes and quality standards.
- Lead a team of artists and animators by way of active management, proactive mentorship, and individualized career pathing.
- Work with cross-discipline Leads and Directors to help drive the artistic vision of the product.
- Support Production with setting project time estimates and scheduling.
- Be the key point of contact for tech artists, animators, and graphics engineers for art direction and communicate effectively across teams.
- Review art from other team members and give thoughtful critique and feedback.
- Actively participate in interviewing, recruitment, and onboarding process to support studio growth objectives.
What You Bring
- 5+ years of game development experience.
- 2+ years of Art Lead and people management experience.
- Positive energy, strong work ethic, and a collaborative demeanor.
- Excellent communication and active listening skills, with the ability to provide direct and constructive feedback.
- Capacity to clearly articulate a team vision that translates to project goals.
- Eagerness to discover new processes or tools and promote their use within the team.
- Passion for space exploration, rocketry, satellites, and related entertainment media.
- Bonus skills: Experience developing with Unity, Photoshop, ZBrush, 3DSMax/Maya, Substance Designer, and/or Substance Painter
