About the Role
Twitch is building the future of interactive entertainment. We are looking for passionate applied scientists who are excited to solve challenging and open-ended problems in the creation of recommendation products. As an Applied Science Fellow on Twitch’s Recommendations team, you will aim to make fundamental advances in how we match viewers and creators, helping to create thriving communities at scale. You’ll build skills as a full-stack scientist, going from dataset, to research problem, to prototype and A/B test. You will collaborate closely with engineers to invent solutions to some of the unique challenges we face serving live content, and will share that work with reproducible, publication-worthy reports.
You’ll find a Requirements section below. If you meet all these then we encourage you to apply. If you only meet some of them but think this role sounds like something you’d be great at, we encourage you to apply. If you meet just one of them but think you’ll bring something unique to the team, we encourage you to apply.
You Will:
- Achieve research and engineering goals set by you and your mentor
- Explore a promising research area end-to-end, with a focus on improving Twitch recommendations
- Collaborate with a diverse team of researchers and engineers to refine and test your ideas
You Have:
- Actively pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Computer Science or a related field, with relevant research experience. Other exceptional candidates will also be considered.
- Hands-on experience doing independent research and/or building systems related to machine learning or deep learning methods.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to clearly communicate complex research.
- Proficiency with ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch etc.) and a general purpose programming language (Python, C/C++ etc.)
Bonus Points
- Published research or experience in a relevant area: modern recommender systems, modeling across various modalities (text, audio, video), sequential or graph-based models, reinforcement learning, multi-task learning, and more.
- Familiarity with AWS services and software development in industry
Perks
- Relocation stipend provided
- Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Served Daily (in office)
- Free Snacks & Beverages (in office)
- Flexible PTO
