Accounting / Finance Manager

The impact you'll make:

The Accounting / Finance Manager will be responsible for managing the month-end close and reporting. This role will also support the budgeting/forecasting process, as well as recurring and adhoc financial analyses. Day-to-day accounting is managed by an outsourced accounting firm. This person will work closely with our outsourced accounting firm, HR, Business Operations / Development, Marketing and Content. This role requires the ideal candidate to perform effectively as an individual contributor and collaboratively as part of a team.

What you'll do:

• Manage a timely and accurate month-end close by preparing and reviewing, account reconciliations, roll-forwards and journal entries.
• Establish and maintain processes around accruals, inventory and prepaid activity
• Work with large volumes of invoice-level data to prepare revenue, AR and deferred revenue reports and reconcile to cash accounts
• Prepare the GAAP financial statements (income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement) on a monthly basis
• Work cross-functionally to support the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting process, i) consolidating inputs from multiple departments into our financial planning software, and ii) preparing meaningful and digestible variance analyses to identify risk and opportunities
• Maintain and, as applicable, build/improve financial models in Excel and Google sheets
• Support external accounting/tax firms with tax and other compliance related matters
• Improve processes and pain points for business users related to financial reporting, information collection, payment and reimbursement processing.
• Assisting in adhoc requests (e.g. scenario analysis, business cases, financial reporting)

What you'll need to be successful:

• 5+ years of Accounting, Financial Reporting and/or Financial Planning, or related experience
• Be high-energy and be able to infuse and bring out intensity, positivity, passion, creativity, enthusiasm, and focus in teams
• Be scrappy and nimble with a continuous improvement mindset
• Strong cross-functional presence to support with technical, creative and operational groups
• Big 4 experience and/or CPA a plus
• Proficiency with Google Suite, Oracle Netsuite or similar ERP, and Hyperion Essbase or similar financial planning tool a plus

• Working hours: We operate within the Pacific time zone for collaboration
