Position Summary
Crystal Dynamics is looking for an accountant to support the studio as a whole, from our beautiful San Mateo office. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Accountant I will be an integral part of the success of the team and assist with accounts payable, semi-monthly payroll, month-end close, process documentation, systems updates, annual audits, and other projects as they arise.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the Staff Accountant with accounts payable and expense reimbursements functions, including: maintenance of vendor records, coding of invoices, securing sufficient support, and approval for invoices, and processing of purchase requests
- Help develop and maintain procedures and policies documentation based on guidance from Associate Finance Director and Accounting Manager
- Recommend and implement improvements to existing systems and processes
- Update period-end reports and spreadsheets
- Responsible for system trainings (new user onboarding), updates, and troubleshooting
- Prepare journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations
- Backup and support for semi-monthly payroll and payment
- Assist with any new system implementations as needed
- Support month, quarter and year-end close including annual financial audit
- Participate on special projects and process improvement initiatives
- Assist with any ad hoc reporting needs
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent
- Software/Technology Company Experience
- 1-2 years professional experience with accounts payable
- Strong organizational and people skills, flexibility, the ability to prioritize and handle multiple deadline-driven tasks effectively and efficiently
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work as part of a team to assist in problem-solving as well as work independently to achieve objectives in established time frames
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Open to working on site in San Mateo, as needed
Bonus Skills & Experience
- Experience processing payroll for 250+ employees preferred
- More extensive experience with general ledger, month-end close, and GAAP
