SMG Studio is expanding and looking for a 3D Generalist with good eye for lighting (Mid/Senior)
We'll be running this project out of the Sydney studio, however we're mostly working from home, so this can be done remotely. Although for this role we will require a min 4hrs crossover on Sydney's timezone 9am-6pm) as you'll be working closely with the team in Australia (Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne)
You'll be working on new unannounced (and very exciting) console title [Redacted: The Redactening].
This is a role where you will make a difference and you'll be able to have a sense of ownership and pride in the output of the studio.
Our eclectic mix of games (Moving Out, SP!NG, No Way Home, RISK, Thumb Drift, Death Squared, OTTTD, One More Line and One More Dash) showcase how we don't like to rest on our laurels.
We enjoy making unique, mechanically driven titles that are fun for everyone to play.
Work with tech art team and creative teams on technical and creative challenges.
We are looking for a team member to take our 3D environments to the next level with amazing lighting skills.
Must have
- A great sense of lighting, as demonstrated by a portfolio of rendered scenes
- A strong sense of materials and textures (normals, specular etc) to help materials feel alive, metals metallic, plastics shiny etc
- Works well as part of a team and takes feedback well.
- Strong knowledge of a 3D tool that allows for lighting explorations
- Take creative initiative to explore and suggest lighting and rendering options
Secondary roles
- 3d Model optimisations - help to create optimised models for use in LOD systems
- Model Rigging - environmental models to be rigged ready for animation
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with the Bakery Lightmapper in Unity (or any equivalent package)
- Unity Realtime Lighting experience
- Animation skills a bonus
