3D Animator - Part-Time Freelancer

About the Role

Sago Mini is on the lookout for a talented 3D Animator Freelancer to add some sparkle to our upcoming 3D cozy game for kids! You'll work hand-in-hand with our design team to breathe life into our characters. We will be counting on you to craft animations that are precise and full of charm, staying true to the whimsical style that makes our beloved 2D apps so magical for kids around the world.

This is a part-time, freelance, fully-remote position.

• Enjoy bringing characters to life through natural and subtle animation.
• Can take direction well and revise work quickly and efficiently when required.
• Get excited from working in small, cross-discipline teams.
• Have a deep appreciation of the details that take an animation from good enough to great.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Creating charming polished animations in Maya of our primarily bipedal characters.
• Collaborating with our 3D Generalist and Art Director to decide on what animations are needed and what they should look like.
• Communicating with the team via Slack to keep them updated on your progress.
• Sharing work at various stages to get alignment on direction and receive feedback.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum 3 years of experience animating in Maya
• Experience with character animation is crucial
• Have shipped at least one 3D game title where you were responsible for character animations
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to deliver on deadline

Nice to Haves

• Proficiency with rigging and skin weighting in Maya
• Unity game engine experience, implementing and setting up their animations
• Experience designing for children and/or families
