2D FX Artist

Rooster Teeth Animation is looking for a 2D VFX Artist to support the growth of our FX department! The ideal candidate has experience developing FX assets based on storyboards and instructions from show director. The animation department at RT has long been a driving force within the company, creating such shows as RWBY, Gen:LOCK, Red vs. Blue, Camp Camp, and RWBY Chibi. We believe passionately in attracting the best and brightest for our team, creating the most engaging and impressive animated productions online or elsewhere (while also having more than a little fun in the process). A strong candidate will have a proven track record of production experience and interpersonal skills to help the company fulfill its objectives.

Responsibilities:

• Create 2D FX based on storyboards and instructions from director and lead artist
• Work with FX lead, Art director, and show director to develop FX that fit project’s stylistic guidelines
• Seek out creative, design-led solutions to challenging problems
• Support the development of tools that optimize FX production processes

Requirements:

• Expert understanding of After Effects for creating FX assets
• Demonstrated knowledge of VFX principles including composition, physical motion, weight balance, texture, form, and appeal
• Passion and ability to work as a positive, collaborative, enthusiastic, ambitious and contributing team member with a real desire to work with the team to find solutions
• Ability to complete tasks within production schedules and deadlines in an organized manner
• Familiarity with Shotgun or other shot management software a plus
• Familiarity with Harmony, ToonBoom, Flash or Adobe Animate a plus
