The goal for the Believer Character art team is to create visually stunning, memorable, and emotionally engaging characters.We are looking for a Character Art Director to lead the development of that process and discover the characters for our brand-new IP. You will report directly into the Game Art Director.

What you’ll do:

• Collaborate with the game Art Director, Concept Artists, and other game leads to establish the in-game visual direction for the game’s characters and ensure it aligns with the project’s creative vision
• Work with the character art team to define the look and feel of the game’s characters, including their design, style, and personality
• Create visually stunning, unique, and memorable character designs that align with the game's creative vision, and set the bar for the team
• Develop the art pipeline for character creation, ensuring efficiency and consistency across all characters
• Manage the character art team, providing feedback and guidance to ensure high-quality work
• Review and approve character art assets to ensure that they meet quality standards and are consistent with the game’s visual direction
• Work with other departments, such as concept art, animation, and tech art, to ensure that character assets are integrated into the game and meet all technical requirements
• Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in character art, and provide recommendations for new techniques or tools that could improve the quality and efficiency of character art production

You're a great fit if:

• At least 8 years of experience in character art creation for AAA games, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
• Proficiency in industry-standard 2D and 3D software such as Photoshop, ZBrush, Maya, or 3DS Max
• Experience working on stylized character art for games with a strong art direction
• Experience managing and mentoring a team of artists while leading multiple projects
• A passion for gaming and the ability to bring a unique perspective to character design to enhance the overall game experience

What we offer:

Annual salary range: $202,000-$272,000 USD
