Motive is looking for a User Interface (UI) Programmer to join our team.
User Interface Programmers work with UI Artists/Designers and the programming team to develop user interfaces for our games. They help implement menus and in-game HUD, both on consoles and on the PC. Their goal is to help make the game interface and attractive while making sure it has as little impact as possible on game performance. You will report to the Lead Gameplay Programmer and help us create our next incredible experience for players!
What the next great UI Programmer will do at Motive:
- You will bring the vision of the UI Artist/Designer to life by collaboratively brainstorming solutions that satisfy design and content requirements
- Collaborate with technical leadership and other engineers to help establish overall technical design and architecture
- Communicate with EA's central technology teams to provide requirements and improvements to push UI technology forwards
- Troubleshoot any UI issues including performance
- Work with the production staff in building realistic schedules and identifying dependencies;
- Coordinate with QA and lead to ensure successful roll out of new features to the team and establish testing and maintenance of systems
- Identify technical and environmental risks/obstacles and create solutions to overcome identified risks
- Partner with QA and the UI Artist/Designer to react to feedback from focus groups and usability studies
Who You Are:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent training and professional experience
- Proficiency with C++, scripting languages (Python, Lua, Ruby) and interpreted languages (C#, Java)
- Experience in object-oriented design and implementation and knowledge of good software programming practices
- Experience developing complex UI systems for a published game
- Experience with the release process including working on systems related to localization, certification and asset management
- Experience with Rendering concepts, Linear Algebra and Graphics Shader Programming
- 4+ years of professional software development experience
