Web Developer (1 Year Contract)

Do boring websites make you sad? Are you a developer who loves animation, detail, and nuance in designs? Do you take pride in efficient and scalable code? As our web developer, you’ll work on a variety of projects and responsible for translating the UX and UI into interactive web experiences for our players. You’ll also work closely with internal content teams to create wonderful CMS workflows for our large editorial team. If you enjoy the freedom to make technical decisions while collaborating closely cross-departmentally, this role is for you!

In this role, you can expect to:

• Develop and roll out well-structured applications for Marketing
• Work closely with Product Management and UX/UI Designers
• Work with QA to validate, debug, and fix found issues
• Occasionally assist in resolving operational IT issues
• Write technical documentation for other developers, and manuals for end users

In order to be successful, we are looking for:

• 4+ years of full stack Web Development with primary focus on front end development
• Ability to to plan, develop, and maintain sites with life cycles of over 2 years
• Excellent understanding of HTML5, CSS3, PHP, and JavaScript
• Competency in jQuery and React.js, but must have strong enough understanding of web technologies to be able to develop without using frameworks (eg Bootstrap, Vue.js, etc.) or libraries
• Good understanding of cross-browser/cross-platform issues and web standards
• Good understanding of mobile first and responsive programming
• Experience working with REST APIs
• Experience with git workflow
• Experience using Photoshop
• Optional experience with Zeplin
• Ability to work independently and in a cross-functional team environment
• Effective written and oral communication skills

It would be a big plus if you:

• Have an appreciation for and good understanding of highly visual web design
• Are comfortable making decisions around responsive design independently
• Get excited about researching fancy front end technologies
• Can work with UX on flow
