Visual Story Development Artist II - Creative Department, Worldbuilding

As a Visual Story Development Artist on Riot’s Worldbuilding Team, you will be expected to generate or provide shape language, concept art, and art support for games and other visual media products in the League of Legends IP. The purpose of this team’s work is to expand, align, and solidify the understanding of the land of Runeterra, and the many cultures, creatures, and characters that exist within it.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality illustrated and concept work which thoughtfully builds upon the depth and breath of Riot's IP portfolio, often in collaboration with narrative partners.
• Work with other teams and products as subject matter experts of the Runteterra IP in order to deliver concept art varying in execution and polish (ie: sketches, finished illustrations for internal and external use), but accurate in its information.
• Lead smaller projects, and communicate well with other teams within the org for alignment. Establish the problem space for design, pitch potential solutions and ideas to establish visual design pillars, and aggregate and prioritize feedback in order to incorporate into the next steps of iteration.
• Provide weekly art feedback to internal and external teams to maintain visual information quality and consistency based on core truths of the IP.
• Help senior artists establish best practices for junior team members around design approach, accuracy and quality.

Required Skills

• Showcase ability to create high quality art assets
• Shipped a AAA game title or marquee asset (ie - AAA cinematic)
• Good knowledge of illustration, concept design, storytelling and composition with an understanding of the creative development process
• Showcase ability to be innovative in concept art iterations, present unique designs which problem solves for assignments
• Persistent dedication to continuous personal growth in craft, skill and knowledge through the use of new tools, applications and classes.

Desired Skills

• Wide range of illustration styles
• Ability to nimbly move between varying levels of fidelity
• Knowledge of League of Legends IP
• Experience at effectively communicating design problem space then solutions process
• Experience in Visual Development or worldbuilding for games, film, or animation
• Experience in areas such as motion graphics, illustration, animation, or 2D/CG Production
• Creative Tools such as Photoshop, ZBrush, Clip Studio Pro, Blender, Storyboard Pro, Maya, any other 3D / 2D software, adobe creative suite or video production tools
• Active member of your craft community
