Visual Effects Supervisor

DigitalFish has an imminent need for a Visual Effects Supervisor with both on-set and facility experience in the feature film and television series visual effects industry.

In this role you will be assessing, advising, designing, and standardizing the workflow between the complex data captured on-set and the organization/ingest/distribution process of that data across multiple VFX companies for one of the world’s premiere VFX studios. You will be solving for all the various on-set data VFX artists need, and offering best practices to manage that data incorporating cloud-based solutions. Such forms of data include live action principal photography coupled with various plates, metadata imbedded in those images, lidar scans of the set, camera data and measurements, reflection and shadow globes, HDR capture, and when utilized, on-set live compositing, virtual production elements, stereo rigs, mo-cap data, and/or motion control data.

This position requires a keen understanding of the latest on-set techniques and technology in addition to the processes VFX houses use to incorporate on-set elements into their workflow. Responsibilities

• Represent DigitalFish as a trusted expert with visibility and exposure across multiple companies
• Architect an on-set to facility workflow responding to, and improving upon, the needs expressed by the overarching studio and it’s sub-studios
• Collaborate with key stakeholders across multiple facilities in the design and standardization of the workflow
• Collaborate with cloud architects and data architects to define a complete and coherent representation and organization for all on-set captured data and metadata
• Review and validate the data architecture, ingest tools, and UX for the proposed system
• Document and diagram said workflow and implementation plan
• Execute and oversee tests of such workflows

Job Requirements

• Minimum 8-10 years of professional feature film and/or television series production experience both on-set and within multiple visual effects companies
• Deep understanding of the possible range of data needs from principal, second unit, special unit, etc. photography to provide the VFX house with the most complete and accurate package of elements and information
• Expertise in VFX facility ingest and tracking systems
• Experience working with cloud-based production management solutions, cloud storage and rendering, and cloud based file sharing and transfer strongly preferred
• Ability to listen and synthesize the information provided by the overall studio and sub-companies
• Understanding of the current on-set to facility workflows and anticipated future workflows.
• Strong documentation skills diagramming workflows and pipelines.

Location

Your primary work will be virtual due to COVID-19 restrictions and will stay remote once COVID-19 restrictions lift. As conditions improve, some travel to actual studios may be required.
