Product Management
What We Do
We believe that the future of filmmaking is real-time and driven by Unreal Engine. It is the Virtual Production product team’s mission to make this vision a reality by shipping features that blow minds and unlock never-before-seen possibilities for creativity in film and tv.
What You'll Do
The Product Specialist acts as the right hand for the Product Manager and will be involved in all areas of Unreal Engine development, from ideation to design to engineering to release. You will play a critical role in helping the team build features that both artists and technicians love to use. This role focuses on In-Camera VFX and the overall advancement of live action filmmaking workflows, from shooting in an LED volume to whatever we dream up next. Ideal candidates have a progressive mindset and are passionate about discovering and implementing the next generation of tools for storytellers and creators.
In This Role You Will
- Partner with the Product Manager to create features that empower the film/tv industry to deliver industry-leading projects utilizing Unreal Engine and real-time technology to the fullest.
- Act as the direct link between Unreal Engine users and the product team - engage with clients on forums, chat on Zoom, and visit studios as needed to help learn what they need to be successful.
- Collaborate with product designers to fine tune user experience.
- Work with the development teams to define test cases and perform end to end feature validation in order to ensure we ship a robust and production-ready product.
- Clearly understand production requirements and translate them into recommendations for both external customers and internal Unreal Engine development.
- Identify bottlenecks and limitations in the pipeline and tools.
- Provide solutions, resolve technical challenges, guide best practices, and help productions achieve their goals with Unreal Engine.
- Create support and marketing materials on the Unreal Developer Network website, as well as specialized documentation, videos, and samples for virtual production.
What We're Looking For
- Direct virtual production experience with Unreal Engine on real world projects.
- Strong understanding of at least two key aspects of Unreal Engine such as nDisplay, Live Link, Multiuser, Sequencer, and the creation of sophisticated Blueprint scripts.
- Familiarity with film/tv production workflows in general.
- Some experience with product development and engineering management processes.
- Ability to communicate complex technical issues via email or face-to-face.
- Desire to both teach others and learn new techniques.
Nice To Have Skills
- Expertise with body and facial motion capture, live camera tracking, data recording, remote control, virtual cameras, and/or virtual scouting is a plus.
- Domain knowledge of at least one of layout/environment assembly, animation, lighting, and look development is a plus.
