VR Game Director [Ubisoft Escape Games] (f/m)

Job Description

The Game Director will ensure that the creative vision is translated into mechanics, systems and player experience. You will also ensure that the project’s strategic design challenges are met. The Game Director will additionally oversee the quality, variety and balance of the game, the narrative systems and the overall experience and challenge by guiding all application of game design within the game.

Further Responsibilities include:

• Work with the Product Owner to ensure that the game meets the creative vision
• With the Product Owner determine the production priorities and eventual scope adjustments
• Define the design methods appropriate to the project and communicate those with the game design team
• Communicate and detail all game design elements with transversal and superior instances (management, editorial, etc.)
• Guide and support the team to ensure that the systems answer the various constraints and ultimately create the right player experience for the defined audience.
• Validate quality standards during the weekly build review process

Qualifications

• Completion of collegial studies in video game design and production or equivalent
• Minimum 8 years’ experience as a game designer or any other relevant experience, must have shipped over 5 games including a VR game
• Experience in supervising a game (design) team
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English
• Excellent self-organization and self-motivation abilities
• Hands-on approach with an agile mindset
• VR passion and knowledge is a must
• Passion for technology and computer games
• Knowledge in Business-to-Business software development is a plus
• Unity knowledge is a plus

This position will be located at Ubisoft Blue Byte, Düsseldorf (Germany).
