About the Role
As Vice President of Engineering, you’ll build, organize, and run Playco’s engineering teams. You’ll design systems and processes to solidify what it means to be an engineer at Playco and scale those processes across the company. You’ll hire managers and train them on how to operate and be successful at Playco. You’ll build systems and tools to help teams set ambitious goals, maintain high velocity, and work through challenging problems. You must be able to balance being hands-on and helping to solve real problems involving our backend systems and games with the ability to lead at a higher level, across various divisions. Ultimately, as Vice President of Engineering, you help Playco succeed by enabling engineering leaders across the company to succeed.
The Role
- Build, mentor, and lead a team of 50+ engineers.
- Collaborate with design, art, production, and leadership teams to specify and build sophisticated game features and development tools for mobile games.
- Create and execute development plans, deploy best-in-class processes and innovate in software development. Proactively identify, prioritize, triage, and resolve development issues as they arise, in consultation with other discipline leaders in the studios.
- Inspire, grow and lead managers. Guide and mentor your leads to be the best they can be for themselves and their staff.
- Build robust teams that function autonomously, are technically innovative, and create value for our players.
- Lead by example. Be a strong technical partner for the leads and engineers. Be a domain expert in one or more technical areas such as gameplay, UI/UX, rendering, server infrastructure, etc. but also comfortable leading a technical discussion in any domain.
- Attract and recruit top engineering talent.
- Advise leadership and actively drive forward the development culture at Playco.

Desired Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent preferred.
- Deep experience in leading software development for mobile, desktop, web, and/or server applications.
- Track record of building successful teams and delivering and operating multiple sophisticated software products.
- Shown success at developing and leading people and growing their careers.
- Proven track record to empower teams, mentor individuals, and operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
- A team player who is insatiably curious and strives for excellence.
- We are a growing distributed team that embraces remote work. You must be capable of working in multiple time zones.
Requirements
- Experience managing engineering teams of 50+ people
- 3+ experience in the gaming industry
- 12+ Years exp software + technology with deep architectural skills
- Knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies
