We are seeking a data-driven Vice President, Data Engineering for a hands-on role leading the strategy, design, and execution of the data enablement systems, including data engineering, data automation, data pipeline and data governance here at Aristocrat. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and building a robust, scalable, and highly available distributed infrastructure and partnering with Global Technology, product analytics, BI teams, data science, to plan and execute a comprehensive end to end enablement system that helps in inform and advance the design, develop, and build some of your very favorite digital games found in casinos throughout the world.
This is a REMOTE role with preference for employee proximity to Las Vegas, Austin, Nashville or LA.What You'll Do
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead development and delivery of data solutions across data acquisition, aggregation, transformation, and analytics.
- Manage the ongoing roadmap and prioritization of Aristocrat’s core data infrastructure. This is a highly collaborative and visible role that will work across the organization to design and deliver scalable data solutions that enable business analytics, data science, visualization, and reporting.
- Manage and optimize core data infrastructure in partnership with the broader enterprise data team and business stakeholders
- Lead delivery of MS SQL Server and data cloud platforms (GCP, Azure, or Snowflake)
- Leads the technical evaluation and recommendation for platforms/tools that enable analytics, analysis, and visualizations
- Identifies and proposes software development process improvement initiatives for improving velocity and quality
- Design, develop and support of ETL processes
- Defining job schedules and deployment strategy that promotes automation and data quality
- MS SQL Server Development and Administration that includes Security, Indexing, View, Triggers, UDFs, Store Procedures, Optimization/Tuning, Troubleshooting and Monitoring
- Must be able to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Must have experience with developing single source of truth data environments, understanding of consumer personalization, using recommendation engine capabilities, such as ML or AI
- Hire and manage team of data engineers, analysts, and developers to build data products and solutions
What We're Looking For
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of experience in data engineering and database development experience
- Significant experience designing, developing, implementing, and operating data solutions in a hybrid enterprise environment that blends on-prem and cloud data
- Documented operational experience working with large, highly available and transactional systems
- Solid, hands-on experience with Data Warehousing, Data Architecture, Data Modeling, and Integrations
- Demonstrable expertise in T-SQL
- Prior documented success in the development of data warehousing tools including Google Cloud Datastore or Snowflake is required
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Power BI, Qlik or Tableau
- Working knowledge of object-oriented programming languages PHP, Python and Java
- Must possess a flexible, confident, low-ego, highly collaborative executive presence, motivated by results, urgency, and personal commitment, and possessing high integrity and exceptional work ethic with a proven ability to influence without formal authority and achieve results through people
- Understands the link between excellence in data acquisition/warehousing/insights, and how to leverage this as a competitive advantage in the marketplace
- Excellent and proven project management skills
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Data Engineering and group leadership in a global business is highly preferred
- Experience with implementing data governance tools, and consumer privacy tools is preferred
- Experience with Athena, Big Query and / or Azure is preferred
- Experience in Apache Airflow is preferred
- Experience working with Microsoft D365 and Salesforce or like ERP and CRM systems is preferred
- Experience in Agile SDLC development methodologies are preferred
- Experience in gaming, content distribution, Media & Entertainment, or retail industry is preferred
