The VO Assistant Director is expected to aid the VO Director in the creation and production of voiceover recording for our games. The VO Assistant Director additionally will assist with contractual relationships with actors, scheduling, budgeting for recording, and in ensuring that the Gearbox audio department adheres to the best standards of professional audio performance and quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct talent in VO sessions, adhering to the guidelines and vision set by the VO director
  • Assist the VO Director in identifying, vetting, and casting talent for multiple projects
  • Develop a deep understanding of the narrative for games in production, and take opportunities to provide feedback and support on writing voice, especially where that is influenced by potential casting or VO direction
  • Help maintain a database of talent
  • Assist in tracking VO sessions and payment
  • Create and maintain department schedules, manage tasks (using production tools such as JIRA, Confluence, SmartSheet, Miro, and MS Office) and govern department scope for multiple projects

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with voiceover direction and/or voiceover acting
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong ability to maintain professional demeanor while working with talent and external agents and agencies
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Detail-oriented
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Preferred: Game development experience and/or strong familiarity with the games industry
  • Preferred: Creative writing skills, especially with humor
