VFX Supervisor

Tangent Animation is the vision of Animation and Film Production industry professionals, with combined experience that encompasses CG Animation, Live Action Film Production, Visual Effects, and Software Development. Tangent Animation is currently recruiting for an experienced VFX Supervisor to work collaboratively with our studio team.

From project standpoint, the VFX supervisor works collaboratively with Production Designer, and Line Producer as well the Director and Client producers to produce projects that meets 3 main objectives; creative excellences, budgetary parameters all achieved on a specific delivery date.

Over the course of production, it will be critical that the VFX supervisor works with each departments head and regularly meet with the head of technology to share production feedback on tools and development done in production.

Responsibilities

• Participate in pre-production meetings
• Advises and supports producer and the production manager in the development of the production schedule and the allocation of resources based on deliverables
• Collaborate with CG Supervisors/Dept. Supervisors to create a production roadmap and creative solutions to problems that arise
• Anticipate problems and present solutions adapted to time and budget constraints
• Identify additional tools necessary for production; find and develop solutions in collaboration with TD’s
• Support the coordination team in order to maintain the pipeline’s efficiency and allow the artists and TDs to achieve their production objectives and deadlines
• Maintain creative relations with given clients; establish strong client confidence
• Outline show pipeline procedure if unique to given show
• Update senior management to show status weekly
• Drives the dailies and be in touch with Leads and Production
• Provides a critical and technical perspective by reviewing and making the necessary adjustments to the work created throughout the project
• Participates in job interviews and assessments of high level roles in collaboration with the HR team

Requirements

• Extensive knowledge of VFX production and CG pipelines
• Minimum 5-10 years of experience working in a CG Supervisor or VFX Supervisor role
• Creative eye and aesthetic judgment with a deep understanding of composition, cinematic design and animation timing.
• Must understand Directing, Lighting, Camera work, Practical Effects, Art Department, and Production Design.
• Knowledge of an asset manager such as SHOTGUN
• Strong Knowledge of: Maya and Houdini. Python familiarity and Linux exposure is a plus
