VFX Engine Programmer

The Opportunity

Our VFX team in Paris is seeking a highly motivated engine programmer. You will report to our VFX Lead.

Unity is setting a high priority on delivering high quality, artist-friendly tools enabling millions of users to craft content for some of the best games and applications running on a wide range of platforms, from low-end mobile to high-end devices.

One of the key tools in development is the Visual Effect Graph which allows users to author complex visual effects made of millions of particles simulated on GPU with advanced behavior using a node-based interface.

As a member of the VFX team, your primary mission will be to make our VFX technologies transition to better reach mobile devices. You will be owning some of our existing systems and driving the development of brand-new features in our VFX core runtime. In collaboration with our platforms teams, this position will allow you to develop an even stronger expertize in mobile graphics development and become a referent to your colleagues.

What you'll be doing

• Ensure scalability of our GPU based VFX tool on untethered platforms
• Develop, optimize and maintain features for our VFX solutions
• Collaborate with artists, QA, doc writers and users to not only implement but also design, document and tests features

What we're looking for

• Relevant experience in 3D engine development on a shipped production
• Strong knowledge of C++ and data oriented design
• Experience with optimizing complex systems on highly constrained platforms and getting the most out of them
• Particular interest in one or several of the following areas: particle systems, mobile development, shader programming, code generation, low-level optimization (both CPU and GPU)

You might also have

• Previous experience with C# and Unity is appreciated
• Experience with node based tools
