VFX Artist (Potential for Remote Work)

You have the skills and experience to create a wide variety of stunning, real-time, visual effects for games across multiple platforms, from mobile to PC and console. You have a keen eye for quality, and a deep understanding of what visual effects can bring to a game. You thrive on taking ownership of projects. Primary Responsibilities:
- Create a variety of visually stunning 3D and 2D hand-crafted visual effects for a massively successful PC and mobile game.
- Implement visual effects based on the requirements of the project and utilize existing pipelines.
- Receive and respond to direction from internal art leads and external partners to ensure high standards and consistency in art style are maintained.
- Ensure visual effects are fully optimized to run within specified performance limitations.
- Work with artists and programmers in anticipating and problem-solving visual effects technical challenges.
- Provide visual effects support for other projects within the organization.
- Create and maintain visual effects art documentation.
- Adapt to changes within a dynamic game developing environment
- Assist with interviews and the growth of our art team.
- Share your techniques and mentor folks.
Qualifications:
- Experience creating and animating exceptional, highly-polished, 3D and 2D real-time effects using Photoshop, Maya/Max, and implementing them in game engines such as Unity or Unreal.
- Experience working with keyframing, joints and locators, particle systems, physics, and rigid/soft body simulations.
- An understanding of real-time shader systems such as those found in Unity or Unreal.
- An ability to author hand-painted textures.
- An eye for color, light and motion.
- Self-driven, able to function under pressure and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Able to identify and problem-solve visual effects related issues.
- A positive attitude and an ability to receive, as well as provide, objective and constructive feedback.
- 3+ years game industry employment.
- Portfolio or demo reel that demonstrates breadth of skill, VFX styles and genres.
- Excellent personal, written and oral communication skills
Preference to Applicants with:
- Experience authoring custom shaders.
- BFA (or higher).
- A love for games, and who plays them regularly.
- Outside interests!
- Experience in mobile, console, and pc interface platforms.
- 1+ shipped titles.
